The film Act 1978 (2020), which was the first Kannada project to be released in cinema halls after their reopening, will soon be remade into Hindi.
The remake rights have been sold to Neeraj Tiwari, producer of Aagaaz Entertainment and the film will be also co-produced by Shiv Aryan.
The original film starred Yagna Shetty as a frustrated pregnant widow who resorts to extreme measures after failing to receive money from the government.
Speaking about the remake, Tiwari said in a statement, "When I saw this movie I really loved it and at that time itself I decided to remake it in Hindi. I loved the lead character because it is a women-centric film. We are in search of a lead actress and I feel actresses like Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pedneker would really do justice to this film. Our team is very excited for this movie as it has done pretty well in Kannada and it's going to be a blockbuster in Hindi too."
The original film was directed by Mansore but, as of now, there is no clarity as to the helmer of the upcoming project.
