Scam 1992 actor Pratik Gandhi’s next web-series, Vitthal Teedi, will also be a period drama that begins in the 1980s. The show is in Gujarati and will be streamed in the upcoming over-the-top platform OHO Gujarati

Abhishek Jain, known for helming successful Gujarati films such as Kevi Rite Jaish (2012) and Bey Yaar (2014), has directed the series.

Throwing more light on the subject, the filmmaker told Cinestaan, “The show is about a small-time gambler in the early 80s and his life’s ups and downs.”

The show sees Gandhi play the titular character. Sharing more details about the character, Jain said, “He is a righteous man in the wrong situations. How he takes all the bricks and bats from society with utmost patience and waits for his turn of destiny to answer back.”

Jain and Gandhi had previously collaborated in Bey Yaar. “Well, Pratik and I go a long way back. The excitement to work with him has always been at the peak because of the kind of artist he is and, more than that, the human being he is. Even after the success of Scam [1992], he had no airs about his work and new-found national fame,” said the director.

Sharing details about the shoot, Jain added, “We shot extensively in the interiors of the Gir region in January 2021. It was fun working with him again. As far as my excitement about the content goes, the audience has seen Pratik in different shades. I am looking forward to seeing the audience explore yet another side of his as an actor. The character is intriguing and hopefully will bring more credibility to the show as well as him as an actor.”

Vitthal Teedi is expected to be released with the launch of OHO Gujarati in early May. The platform is jointly owned by Jain’s firm CineMan and Khushi Ambient Media Solutions.
