More than five years after making his directorial debut with Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015), Subodh Bhave will now be helming a film called Manapman. He made the announcement yesterday on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.

While the 2015 film was based on Purushottam Darvhekar’s play of the same name, Manapman is an adaptation of Krishnaji Prabhakar Khadilkar’s play Sangeet Manapman. And like Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, the upcoming project is also a musical set in a bygone era. Bhave has again roped in Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to compose the music.

The motion title poster of the film makes it clear that Indian classical music will be the backbone of the film. Although the clip is only around 30 seconds long, it is enough to capture your interest.

Along with directing Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, Bhave also played an important character, Sadashiv. Sachin Pilgaonkar essayed the role of Khansaheb while Shankar Mahadevan made his acting debut as Pandit Bhanu Shankar Shastri.

The makers of Manapman have said that the cast will be revealed later. The film will be released this Diwali.
