AR Murugadoss teams up with Om Prakash Bhatt for pan-Indian film titled 1947

AR Murugadoss has announced his next project after the Rajinikanth-led Darbar (2020). The director will collaborate with producer Om Prakash Bhatt, who has backed films such as Mann Fakiraa (2020) and Takatak 2 (2021), the latter of which is currently being shot.

Titled 1947, the film will be directed by Pon Kumaran and is expected to be a multi-lingual project. Kumaran has helmed several Kannada films including Charulatha (2012), Gowdru Hotel (2017) and Yajamana (2019). He was also the screenwriter for the Rajinikanth-starrer Lingaa (2014). 

The film, which is likely to be a historical drama and will go on the floors in the second half of 2021, will be jointly produced by AR Murugadoss Productions and Purple Bull Entertainment. The cast is expected to be revealed soon.

AR Murugadoss made his production debut back in 2011 with Engaeyum Eppodhum, later producing films such as Raja Rani (2013) and Maan Karate (2014).
