Actor Zakir Hussain is known for his roles in serious and intense films like Sarkar (2005), Johnny Gaddaar (2007), Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014), Singham Returns (2014), Badlapur (2015) and Andhadhun (2018).
But he went into light-hearted mode for the web-series Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare (2018) and followed it up with another show in the same space titled Sandwiched Forever (2020).
Now, in the second season of Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare, which was released late last month, he reprised his character Rajesh, father of Ronny (Zakir Khan). This time, too, the character has a pivotal role in the web-series.
Speaking about the second season, Hussain said, “My role continues to be the same as Ronny’s father, but in this season there are a lot of twist and turns in the father-son relationship. I play the quintessential middle-class father. One also gets to see the supportive and emotional side of the father towards his son.
Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare 2 review: The slice-of-life saga becomes a political drama
“In this season one gets to see how Ronny is taking things more seriously, which he was not in the first season. You will see Ronny being more responsible, but in his own character and style. It depicts how things unfold and changes occur in Ronny’s [till now] hunky-dory life.”
The first season of Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare was all about Ronny making merry by faking his association with legislator Ashwini Pathak whose surname he shares. The second season, which is also set in the city of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, sees Ronny become an important member of Pathak’s political party, only to face a challenge from an unexpected quarter.
Talking about the experience of working with Zakir Khan, Zakir Hussain said, “It was a great experience, a lot of fun on the sets. One thing I want to add is that it is all about how, in a middle-class family, if a child aspires to do something different, the family gets frightened first, but then eventually starts supporting him.”
