Kirron Kher has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, reveals husband Anupam

Kher said his wife, member of Parliament representing Chandigarh, has been undergoing treatment in Mumbai and is on the way to recovery.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has revealed that his wife, actress and member of Parliament Kirron Kher, has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

In a statement, Anupam Kher wrote, "Just so that rumours don't get the better of a situation, Sikandar and I would like to inform everyone that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer."

He also confirmed that Kirron, 68, is undergoing treatment. "She is currently undergoing treatment and we are sure she will come out of this stronger than before," he said. "We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors."

A National award-winning actress and Bharatiya Janata Party MP representing Chandigarh, Kirron Kher was last seen on the big screen in Khoobsurat (2014). She has been a part of the jury on the television reality show, India's Got Talent, from the first season.

Earlier, BJP Chandigarh unit president Arun Sood had revealed in a press conference that the MP has been under treatment since last year. Kirron Kher suffered a broken arm at her residence in Chandigarh in November 2020, following which she underwent check-ups at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research where the cancer was detected. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai.

Praising his wife's strength, Anupam Kher wrote, "She's all heart and that's why she has so many people that love her. So keep sending your love to her in your prayers and in your heart." He added, "She is well on her way to recovery and we thank everyone for their love and support."
