Kaushik Sen, Rwitobroto Mukherjee to be seen together in Addatimes series Utshober Pore

The thriller is a tribute to Rituparno Ghosh’s Utsab (2000), released 10 years ago.

Kaushik Sen and Rwitobroto Mukherjee will soon be seen together in Addatimes’s upcoming web-series Utshober Pore, directed by Abhinandan Dutta.

The series will also feature Satyam Bhattacharya, Bimal Chakraborty, Aishwariya Sen, Senjuti Mukherjee among others. The thriller is a tribute to Rituparno Ghosh’s Utsab (2000), released 10 years ago.

The film is based on the backdrop of a Durga Puja, hosted by a North Kolkata family, quite similar to Ghosh’s Utsab. However, according to the director, the series doesn’t have much connection with Ghosh’s film, apart from its ambience and a few characters that have similar shades.

Sen plays one of the sons in the family, who returns home from abroad for Puja, along with many other relatives. He was quite active during the Naxal movement but later severed all connections. However, his return to Kolkata revives his past connections, bringing in new conflicts into his life.

Mukherjee plays Rik, Sen's nephew, who dreams of filmmaking and has a strong political ideology. His character hates the show-offs in the name of celebration in his house.

According to Dutta, political transitions have played a crucial role in weaving the family drama. The series is slated to be streamed during Durga Puja in October.

Dutta is currently shooting Utshober Pore at Belgachhia palace in Kolkata.
