After actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug case related to the death of her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, many artistes from the Hindi film industry have come forward to support her.
Actresses like Taapsee Pannu defended Chakraborty on Twitter. "She wasn't even consuming. Financing and procuring for Sushant. So in that case, if he was alive he would have been put behind bars too?" remarked Pannu.
Correction. She wasn’t consuming. Financing and procuring for Sushant. So in that case if he was alive he would’ve been put behind bars too ? Oh no. She must’ve forced the drugs onto him. Sushant must’ve been force fed marijuana. Yes that’s what it is exactly. We did it guys 🙌🏼 https://t.co/6f8l7DncuI

Others from the Hindi film industry, from actresses Vidya Balan and Kriti Kharbanda to filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, and actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, shared the slogan, "Roses are red, violets are blue, Let's smash the patriarchy, Me and you", on Instagram, extending their solidarity with the 28-year-old actress.
Incidentally, Chakraborty had worn a black T-shirt which had the same quote printed on it when she appeared at the NCB to get arrested.
After her bail plea was rejected by a magistrate's court yesterday, Chakraborty spent the night at the NCB. She was taken today to the Byculla jail. Her lawyer was slated to apply for bail at the sessions court today.
