Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) yesterday in a drug case related to the death of her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput.

She was then produced before a local court which rejected her bail application and sent her to judicial custody for 14 days. Chakraborty was taken to the Byculla jail some time ago.

While seeking her judicial custody, the NCB told the court, “It is clear from her statement that the respondent used to procure drugs for Rajput’s consumption. The respondent used to manage finance for drug procurement along with Rajput.”

The NCB did not seek Chakraborty's custody. Explaining the agency’s stand, deputy director MA Jain told the Asian News International (ANI) agency, “We don’t need her custody so we will seek judicial custody. We aren’t asking for her custody remand as whatever we wanted to cross with her, we have done already.”

Latest reports suggest that the actress's legal team will be moving to the sessions court today to seek bail for her.

Last night, Rhea’s father Indrajit Chakraborty gave an emotional reaction to the news of his daughter’s arrest. “No father can bear injustice on his daughter. I should die,” he wrote on Twitter.
