Rohan Sippy last donned the hat of a director for Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunal Roy Kapur's Nautanki Saala! (2013). He returns as a director after seven years with the web-series Wakaalat From Home.
The story is about the divorce proceedings of a couple, Sujin and Radhika, played by Sumeet Vyas and Nidhi Singh, during the lockdown. As the judge (Akarsh Khurana) doesn’t think the case important, he moves the proceeding to video-conferencing.
Wakaalat From Home is about the hilarious accusations, arguments and counter-arguments between the couple and their lawyers (Kubbra Sait and Gopal Datt). The trailer is just over a minute long, but it has a series of moments with situational humour. Makes you wish the promo had been a little longer.
The pair of Sumeet Vyas and Nidhi Singh was highly appreciated in the web-series Permanent Roommates. Their casting looks appropriate here, too. Kubbra Sait and Gopal Datt are funny. Although we get only a glimpse of the character of the judge, his method of working is enough to make you laugh.
Produced by Rohan Sippy Entertainment, Wakaalat From Home will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 10 September. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this show.
