Yami Gautam will play Naina Jaiswal, a playschool teacher who takes 16 toddlers under her charge hostage.
“A Thursday is one of those rare scripts that you just cannot put down,” she told the Mid-Day newspaper. “Behzad has written one of the strongest characters for a female protagonist; Naina is both fierce and endearing.”
Khambata made his directorial debut last year with Blank (2019), which introduced Karan Kapadia, nephew of veteran actress Dimple Kapadia. He wrote the script of A Thursday with Yami Gautam in mind and was elated when she agreed to do the role.
Producer Ronnie Screwvala added, “This is one of those thrillers that not only has you on the edge of your seat, but also makes you question many aspects of society. Seeing Yami in a grey avatar will be interesting for the audience.”
A Thursday is being co-produced by Premnath Rajagopalan of Blue Monkey Films.
