Warner Bros’ The Batman (2021) has shut down production in London, England, after star Robert Pattinson reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The Vanity Fair magazine confirmed through its sources that it was indeed Pattinson who had contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Although the studio would not confirm that the star was the one affected, it did reveal that the film's production had been halted as a member of the team had been infected.

Warner Bros said in a statement, 'A member of The Batman production has tested positive for COVID-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused.'

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, resumed shooting recently after a six-month break during the coronavirus pandemic. The crew had been shooting in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this year.

The film, which also stars Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell, has also had its release date pushed to October 2021. It was originally due to be released in June 2021.

Pattinson is the latest actor after Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton, to step up to play the DC Comics superhero.
