Filmmaker Saptaswa Basu, known for his debut film Network, is all set to direct the crime thriller Pratidwandi (2020), featuring Saswata Chatterjee and Rudranil Ghosh. The story has been written by Rini Ghosh, who also plays a crucial role in the film, while the screenplay is being penned by Arnab Bhowmick.
Chatterjee plays Dr Bakshi, who consults Siddhartha and his team of private investigators, when his son is kidnapped. Eventually, the team discovers that the abduction is related to a series of murders which have been committed recently in Kolkata.
Meanwhile, there's always been an intense rivalry between mathematics teacher Sukumar Sen, played by Ghosh, and Bakshi. The investigators cannot help but suspect Sukumar to be the man behind the abduction.
The crime thriller traces the root of the enmity between the doctor and the teacher, while solving the kidnapping case at the same time. Needless to say, the two actors are going to dominate the screen with their acting prowess in the film, which is being made as a tribute to the late filmmaker Satyajit Ray.
The film also features Saayoni Ghosh, Maahi Kar, Rajdeep Sarkar and first-timer Sirshaa in crucial roles. Ranajoy Bhattacharya, famed for his music in Sweater (2019) and Hridpindo (2020), will be composing the music for the film.
The film is expected to go the floors this month.
