Laxmmi Bomb, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, will release in select theatres in Australia, New Zealand and the UAE on 9 November. In India, the film is set for a direct-to-digital release on the same day on Disney+ Hotstar.

Directed by Lawrence Raghavendra, the film will see Akshay playing the role of a man who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender person.

The news was shared on Twitter by Fox Star Studios, along with a new poster of the film featuring Akshay in his two avatars, a man in the foreground and a transgender person in the background. This Diwali, Laxmmi Bomb is to release on 9 November in Australia, New Zealand and UAE, the tweet read.

Along with Laxmmi Bomb, Lootcase (2020), Dil Bechara (2020), and Sadak 2 (2020)  which bypassed theatres and premiered directly on Disney+ Hotstar, will also release in select theatres in Australia on 8, 15 and 22 October respectively.

Laxmmi Bomb is the remake of the Tamil horror-comedy Muni 2: Kanchana (2011), which was also directed by Lawrence. The film marks Akshay’s digital debut.
