Expiry Date trailer: Zee5 thriller has interesting premise

The trailer of Zee5’s upcoming web-series Expiry Date, a high-octane crime thriller, begins with a man and woman, Vishwa (Tony Luke) and Sunita (Madhu Shalini), separately filing missing person reports in a police station after their spouses vanish without a trace.

Interestingly, it turns out both the missing persons, Disha (Sneha Ullal) and Sunny (Ali Reza), were last seen at a wedding reception. As the police dig deeper, the case grows more complicated. 

Expiry Date has an intriguing premise. But the makers have crammed in far too many disparate sequences in the trailer, which runs for just over a minute and a half. Also, the flashing effect between the shots is gratuitous and the editor comes across as trying too hard to induce thrills and chills. 

Luke, who was impressive in Badla (2019) and makes his web-series debut with Expiry Date appears promising while Ullal, who is also making her digital debut, Madhu and Reza are passable.  

Directed by Shankar K Marthand, Expiry Date will start streaming on Zee5 on 2 October.
