The trailer of MX Player's upcoming web-series High sees world-weary drug addict Shiv (Akshay Oberoi) form an unlikely partnership with the operators of a rehabilitation clinic, Dr Roy (Prakash Belawadi) and his assistants (Nakul Bhalla and Shweta Basu Prasad), to push a potent drug developed by the latter.

While the doctors churn out the mysterious drug, which is extracted from a native plant, the street-smart Shiv's vast experience comes in handy as he oversees its distribution. Soon enough, the quartet's high-quality product disrupts the illegal drug market, spurring the competition to attempt to hunt down its enigmatic manufacturers and avail themselves of the services of professional hitman Lakda (Ranvir Shorey). Meanwhile, a journalist (Mrinmayee Godbole), who senses a major scoop, follows the trail of mayhem and violence left behind by our main players.

The trailer of High promises a lot of action and thrills. It's also safe to assume after watching the profanity-laced trailer that there will also be ample bloodletting. One just hopes the violence serves to paint a stark and realistic picture of the society's underbelly instead of existing merely for shock value.

The show also stars Madhur Mittal and Kunal Naik. Helmed by Nikhil Rao, High will stream on MX Player from 7 October.
