Aditya Chopra thanks film industry, audience on Yash Raj Films' golden jubilee

He unveiled a new logo marking the start of the 50-year celebrations of the popular production house.

Yash Raj Films (YRF) chairman and filmmaker Aditya Chopra penned a heartfelt note to his late father Yash Chopra, who founded the production house on 27 September 1970, on its 50th anniversary. 

The date also marks the 88th birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker. Aditya also thanked the film industry and the audience in the note.

In a statement, Aditya traced his father's journey. "In 1970, my father Yash Chopra left the security and comfort of his brother Mr BR Chopra and formed his own company. Till then, he was a salaried employee of BR Films and didn't own anything of his own. He did not know how to run a business and did not even have the basic knowledge of what goes into making a company. All he had was a strong belief in his talent and hard work and a dream to be self-reliant."

The filmmaker said that V Shantaram, who owned Rajkamal Studios, graciously gave his father a small room in his studio for his office. "My father didn't know then, that the small company that he started in a tiny room, would one day become the biggest film company of the Indian Film Industry," the statement read.

Aditya thanked every person associated with the company over the last five decades, including the technicians and the audience. 

"Across five decades YRF, at its core, has been a traditional company with deep-rooted old world values and a conservative approach to business. This perfect balance of traditional and modern is what defines Yash Raj Films," the statement read.

Aditya has also unveiled a special logo of his production house to mark the anniversary, the video of which depicts the biggest hits of the production house.

The logo depicts Kabhie Kabhie (1976)Chandni (1989), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Hum Tum (2004), Dhoom 2 (2006), Chak De! India (2007), Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Dhoom 3 (2013), WAR (2019), among other movies, as a series of golden dominos, which fall, forming the logo.

The YRF logo has gone through various iterations over the years. The production house had changed its logo briefly to celebrate its 25th anniversary with the release of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The logo was also changed with the releases of Veer-Zaara (2004) and Mardaani 2 (2019).
