The 51st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which was scheduled to be held in Goa from 20–28 November, has been postponed to 16–24 January 2021 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the country.
A statement from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said the decision was made after Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar had a discussion with Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant.

The statement said the festival would be held in 2021 in a hybrid format according to the international film festival guidelines and protocols. 'The festival will be conducted in a hybrid format ie virtual and physical format. All COVID-related protocols will be strictly enforced as per the festivals convened recently in the international circuit,' it said.
Other major Indian film festivals like the International Film Festival of Kerala and the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival have already announced their postponement on account of the medical crisis.
