Actor Sonu Sood, who is frequently in the news for his philanthropic deeds, has now launched the ILAAJ India Initiative, a helpline number that will serve as a source of relief for those unable to pay for their children's medical care.
The project was developed by Ketto.org, a crowdfunding platform that raises funds for health and medical emergencies, among other things.
Commenting on the initiative, Sood said an estimated eight lakh Indian children died in 2019, more than those in other countries. He added that the inadequate number of government hospitals and limited coverage of health insurance force people to incur heavy out-of-pocket expenses when availing themselves of private healthcare services. "The ILAAJ India helpline number will enable patients (to obtain) financial aid for their medical treatment and surgeries,” said Sood.
“Patients who require to undergo any medical treatment, transplant, or critical surgeries can give a missed call on 02067083686 and the Ketto team will reach out to the patients for the next steps,” said Sood.
