Actor Arjun Mathur, Netflix’s Delhi Crime and the Amazon Prime web-series Four More Shots Please! have all been nominated for this year’s International Emmy Awards.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced 44 nominees, from 20 countries, in 11 categories on Thursday. The winners will be announced at a yet-to-be-determined ceremony in New York City on 23 November.
“Congratulations to all the Nominees! – we are especially proud to recognize and honour the world’s best storytellers, producers and performers,” Bruce L Paisner, the academy’s president, stated. “At a time of crisis where most of us have to stay home most of the time, television entertains us and provides a window on our world.”
Mathur has been nominated for Best Performance By An Actor for Amazon Prime’s Made In Heaven alongside Billy Barratt, Guido Caprino, and Raphael Logam. The web-series is co-produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions.
The first season of Amazon Prime’s Four More Shots Please! has been nominated for Best Comedy Series along with UK’s Back To Life, Israel’s Fifty and Brazil’s Ninguém tá Olhando (Nobody’s Looking). The series, starring Sayani Gupta, Kirti Kulhari, Bani Judge and Maanvi Gagroo, was created by Rangita Pritish Nandy.
Netflix’s Delhi Crime has been nominated for Best Drama Series along with Germany’s Charité 2, Criminal UK, and the second season of Argentina’s El Jardín de Bronce (The Bronze Garden). Written and directed by Richie Mehta, Delhi Crime stars Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang and Adil Hussain. The series was based on the immediate aftermath of the Nirbhaya rape case in Delhi in 2012.
In previous years, Amazon Prime's Inside Edge and Netflix's Sacred Games have also been nominated for the awards. Last year, the Netflix anthology Lust Stories (2019) and actress Radhika Apte had also picked up nominations.
