Harshita Gaur, who plays Dimpy, the sister of Guddu Bhaiya (Ali Fazal) and Bablu Bhaiya (Vikrant Massey), in crime thriller Mirzapur has revealed that her character will undergo a major transformation in the show's second season.

“Dimpy is a classic girl next door character - sweet, pretty, warm [and] one who anyone can relate with very easily. She hails from a Pandit family and attaches a lot of importance to family values. She loves her brothers and acts as a bridge between them and her father. The character has a huge transition from season one to two. There is more depth in the character. I believe the audiences will enjoy Dimpy’s character graph (sic),” she said in an official statement.

The first season told the story of Guddu and Bablu who are compelled to join the underworld gang of Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi). The two brothers, however, start enjoying the work and the power that comes with it. This doesn’t go well with their father (Rajesh Tailang), who is an honest and upright lawyer. Gaur’s character is torn between her brothers and father.

Gaur shared that she had initially refused to work on the show. “Bagging Mirzapur is in itself an interesting story. I had initially refused the role but one meeting with the directors [and] my perception took a 180-degree turn. Coming from a TV background, my idea of a lead role was almost set in stone,” she said.

The actress had played the lead character in Channel V show Sadda Haq in 2013.

Gaur said the show and her character introduced her to a different narrative format, which has added a different dimension to her craft. "One thing I can safely say is that all the characters that I have played till date have been significant and relevant to the storyline,” she said.

The second season of Mirzapur will start streaming from 23 October on Amazon Prime Video.
