Ayushmann Khurrana makes it to Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people

Hindi film star Ayushmann Khurrana has been named among the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine.

The 36-year-old actor took to Instagram to share the news with his fans  “TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world is out, I’m honoured to be a part of this group,” he wrote.

The essay on Khurrana was penned by actress Deepika Padukone, who was herself on the list in 2018.

Padukone wrote: 'I remember Ayushmann Khurrana vividly from his debut film, Vicky Donor. He had, of course, been a part of the entertainment industry in various other ways for several years before that, but the reason you and I talk about him today is because of the impact he has been able to create through memorable films and iconic characters. Where male protagonist roles often fall into the trap of stereotypical masculinity, Ayushmann has successfully and convincingly transformed into characters who challenge those very stereotypes.

'In India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion, only a tiny percentage of people see their dreams come alive, and Ayushmann Khurrana is one of them. You're probably wondering, How? Talent and hard work. Sure, that goes without saying. But more important, patience, perseverance and fearlessness. A little insight for those who dare to dream.'

Khurrana, a National award-winning actor, is known for his bold choices of film roles — from playing a sperm donor in his acting debut film Vicky Donor (2012) to a man insecure about his premature balding in Bala (2019), with a pianist who pretends to be blind in the thriller Andhadhun (2018) in between.

Apart from Khurrana, India's prime minister Narendra Modi, Prof Ravindra Gupta, known for his work on HIV/AIDS treatment, Sundar Pichai, the India-born chief executive officer of Google, and Bilkis, the 82-year-old who became one of the faces of the Shaheen Bagh protest,have made it to the magazine's list of 100 most influential people.
