Khaali Peeli trailer: Ishaan Khatter, Ananya Panday go on a wild ride

The trailer of chase caper Khaali Peeli (2020) introduces us, once again, to its protagonists and reveals the two have known each since childhood.

Conventionally enough, Khaali Peeli has a hero (Ishaan Khatter), a heroine (Ananya Panday) and a villain (Jaideep Ahlawat). Panday, however, is seen stealing cash and jewels and making her way into Khatter’s cab wielding a gun in a decidedly anti-heroine manner. With a whole bunch of antagonists on their tail, and later the police as well, the duo have no choice but to keep their foot on the pedal. However, despite their long acquaintance, trust issues eventually surface.

Set mostly at night, the film makes good use of Mumbai’s relatively empty streets, and the dialogues are soaked in the city's instantly recognisable lingo as the main characters are from the same milieu.

Khaali Peeli, directed by first-time filmmaker Maqbool Khan, is due to be streamed on Zee Plex on pay-per-view basis for Rs299 on 2 October.
