Hoichoi announces line-up of 25 web-series and two films

Streaming service Hoichoi has announced a slate of 25 original web-series, nine of which are the latest seasons of existing shows, and two films for its new phase, Season 4. Hoichoi recently marked the completion of three years as the leading OTT platform of West Bengal.
Among Hoichoi's sixteen brand new series are an adaptation of Arnab Ray’s best-selling book The Mahabharata Murders and Devdas O Ekti Khuner Golpo, a fresh take on Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's immortal classic, featuring Arjun Chakraborty, Madhumita Sarkar and Raima Sen.
Detective fiction buffs can look forward to Srijit Mukherji's Robindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Aashenni, based on the Bangladeshi novel of the same name, and Sahana Dutta’s Gora, which will mark Ritwick Chakraborty’s web debut as a 'defective detective'. Tuhina Das will also don the hats of a sleuth, history professor and hacker, who solves complex psychological cases in Damayanti. Rudranil Ghosh’s Ganga will feature veteran Soumitra Chatterjee as a gang lord.
Hot on the heels of the acclaimed Shobdo Jobdo, director Saurav Chakraborty will return with Laal Mati while Kamaleswar Mukherjee will mark his directorial debut on the web platform with Mohomaya, produced by Sahana Dutta. Mainak Bhaumik is also slated to helm two unconventional series, Lolita and MakeUp Story while Taqdeer, shot in Bangladesh, will feature Chanchal Chowdhury as a man who gets entangled in a murder scandal. Q (Qaushiq Mukherjee) will put his unique spin on Thakumar Jhuli, an anthology of Bengali folktales while Mizanur Rahman Aryan's Bhalo Thakish Baba will present a realistic take on the current Bangladesh social construct, according to a press release by Hoichoi.
The new seasons of Charitraheen, Hello, Byomkesh, Tansener Tanpura, Bonyo Premer Golpo, Money Honey, Rahasya Romancho Series, Eken Babu and Shei Je Holud Pakhi will feature new faces and storylines. Swastika Mukherjee will be seen as the protagonist in Charitraheen Season 3 while the second season of Bonyo Premer Golpo will feature Tanusree Chakraborty and Arjun Chakraborty. Sourav Das will be seen in a never-before-seen avatar in the third season of Abhirup Ghosh’s Rahasya Romancho Series. The sixth season of Byomkesh, featuring Anirban Bhattacharya as the titular detective, will be based on the story Magna Mainak.
The two films that will premiere on the platform are Kolkata Underground, a musical helmed by Parambrata Chatterjee on violent gang wars and the politician-builder nexus, and Tiktiki, an adaptation of Anthony Shaffer’s play Sleuth by director Dhrubo Banerjee.
