Ginny Weds Sunny song ‘LOL’: Payal Dev composes a broad wedding number

The first song of Ginny Weds Sunny (2020), ‘LOL’, opens with Yami Gautam’s Ginny leading the charge at a Delhi wedding. Vikrant Massey’s Sunny looks on fascinated, until he ultimately caves in and joins her in song and dance.

The Punjabi track is composed and sung by Payal Dev, while Dev Negi joins her for the second half. The music features a typical Punjabi beat while the singers’ voices often sound mechanized. Kunaal Verma’s lyrics rhyme LOL [laugh out loud] with words like alcohol, dhol and khol.

As the introduction to the romantic comedy directed by Puneet Khanna, the song doesn’t impress much. However, the film’s two leads Gautam and Massey try to inject the proceedings with their charms. Their chemistry, thankfully, is just fine.

The upcoming film, which is due to be streamed on Netflix on 9 October, will deal with their eventual nuptials.
