Last year in March, Fox Star Studios had managed to bring together Saif Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh for the horror-comedy Bhoot Police to be directed by Pawan Kripalani. However, Fazal is no longer a part of the film and has been replaced by Arjun Kapoor for reasons unknown.
Kripalani shared the news in a conversation with the tabloid Mumbai Mirror. “We are excited to bring this spooky adventure-comedy and really happy to have Saif and Arjun join the team as they are a perfect fit for this crazy entertainer. Both of them will be seen in very different avatars and will bring their trademark humour to the script,” he said.
This is the first time that Khan and Kapoor will be seen together in a film. Kapoor has, however, worked with Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan in R Balki’s Ki & Ka (2016). He was last seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat (2019).
Coming to the roles played by Kapoor and Khan, a source told the publication, “Saif and Arjun play a pair of ghost hunters in the film. The makers have been working towards getting the right ensemble on board for a while now. The film, produced by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri, will roll by the year-end.”
Kripalani is known for his films like Ragini MMS (2011), Darr @ the Mall (2014) and Phobia (2016).
