Evil Eye, one of four films comprising Amazon Prime Video’s Welcome To The Blumhouse series, features Indian-origin actors Sarita Choudhury, Sunita Mani and Omar Maskati, and Bernard White. Based on an audio play by Madhuri Shekar, the supernatural thriller was executively produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas under her production company Purple Pebble Pictures.

Directed by Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani, Evil Eye tells the story of a girl (Mani) who falls for a dashing guy (Maskati). But just when everything seems hunky-dory, the girl’s mother (Choudhury), a believer in the supernatural, grows certain that her daughter's suitor has a dark connection to her own past. This creates a wedge between the girl and her mother, with her father (White) trying to pacify both sides.

Evil Eye promises a seamless mix of the horror and romance genres, and the transition from one vibe to the other appears organic. Although the trailer apparently reveals a lot, it still manages to pique the interest of casual viewers.

Evil Eye will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 13 October.

The other three films in Welcome To The Blumhouse anthology are Nocturne, Black Box and The Lie.
