Actor Siddharth is set to return to Telugu cinema after seven years with the upcoming action drama Mahasamudram, its makers announced on Friday. The film, to be directed by Ajay Bhupathi, will also star Sharwanand.
Siddharth was last seen in a full-length role in Telugu cinema in the film Jabardasth (2013), which also starred Samantha Akkineni. That same year, he made a cameo appearance in the Jr NTR-starrer Baadshah.
Welcoming Siddharth on board, Bhupathi tweeted: “Happy to have Siddharth in Mahasamudram. This intense multi-starrer will surely reach your expectations. Welcome back Siddhu (sic).”

This project will mark the maiden collaboration of Siddharth and Sharwanand. Amid rumours that Siddharth could be seen playing a negative role, the makers said in a statement today that the actor was looking for the right project to make his comeback in Telugu cinema and had finally found it.
Siddharth was last seen on the big screen in the Tamil horror-thriller Aruvam (2019), in which he played a food safety officer. He will be seen next in Shankar’s Indian 2, which co-stars Kamal Haasan, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal.
Siddharth, who had worked with Shankar in Boys (2003), was brought in as replacement for Simbu in Indian 2 and will play a cop. It is believed that Siddharth plays the grandson of Senapathy (Kamal Haasan’s character) who sets out to avenge his father's death.
Meanwhile, Siddharth recently confirmed that a sequel to his horror hit Aval (2017) is in the pipeline. He had said that he has completed writing the script for the sequel, which will be directed by Milind Rau, who helmed the first part as well.
Siddharth has another Tamil film titled Takkar on the horizon. It is tipped to be an action comedy.
