Wanphrang K Diengdoh’s Khasi-language film Lorni: The Flaneur, starring Adil Hussain, has been picked up by Singapore’s 108 Media for international sales. It will be presented at the Toronto International Film Festival market this week.

Lorni, which had its world premiere at the Talinn Black Nights film festival last year, features Hussain as a self-proclaimed detective who investigates the disappearance of cultural objects. The quest allows him to process his own life and its goals.

“We’re blown away by how Wanphrang impressively pulled together such a tonally groovy film, with Adil Hussain’s mesmeric performance as its centrepiece,” Justin Deimen, 108 Media’s president, told the entertainment website Variety.com.

The drama is Diengdoh’s feature film debut. He previously directed documentaries and produced music albums. According to the same Variety report, 108 Media will also produce Diengdoh’s next two films, Death (Iaw-Paw) and Stories Of The Street, which are part of the filmmaker’s Trauma Trilogy.

Lorni: The Flaneur, which also features dialogues in English and Hindi, has been shot in Shillong, Meghalaya.
