The 45th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will take place from 10–19 September. An annual fundraiser event, the TIFF Tribute Awards, honours the film industry’s outstanding contributors and their achievements and this year the Jeff Skoll Award in Impact Media will be presented to Mira Nair.
The TIFF Tribute Actor Award will be presented to Kate Winslet and Sir Anthony Hopkins while Chloé Zhao will receive the TIFF Ebert Director Award and Terence Blanchard, the TIFF Variety Artisan Award.
The ceremony will be broadcast at 8pm ET on Tuesday, 15 September, during the festival in a first-ever, one-hour broadcast of the event which will feature special messages from the awardees.
The festival announced that Tabu would be among the special presenters at the awards who will introduce the awardees. She will probably be called upon to introduce Nair, who has directed her in The Namesake (2006) and A Suitable Boy (2020). The event will be hosted by Chloe Wilde and Tyrone Edwards. Colin Farrell, Ava DuVernay, Regina King, Olivia Colman, Jodie Foster and Delroy Lindo are the other special presenters at the ceremony.

The fundraiser event supports TIFF’s year-round programming and the organization’s core mission to transform the way people see the world through film.
Mira Nair's much anticipated A Suitable Boy will be the closing film at the 45th edition of TIFF, which features a line-up of 50 new feature films, five programmes of short films, interactive talks, film cast reunions, and Q&As with cast and filmmakers.
The other Indian film at the festival is Chaitanya Tamhane’s The Disciple, which was premiered at the Venice International Film Festival earlier this month. Besides this, the presence of Indian talent is marked by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who will represent India as TIFF Ambassadors.
The festival will include physical screenings and drive-ins, digital screenings, virtual red carpets, press conferences, and industry talks.
