Zee5 and ALTBalaji’s upcoming show Mumbhai, as the name suggests, is about the bhais, or gangsters, of Mumbai and is set in the period from the late 1980s to the early 2000s, when the city was in the grip of the underworld.
Although the story is set in the city, a special sequence will be shot in Dubai. The underworld connection between Mumbai and Dubai was quite well known back in the day.
Angad Bedi, who plays the lead in Mumbhai, will be flying to Dubai to shoot the sequence. The web-series went on the floor in July, after the pandemic-induced lockdown was eased.
Sharing his excitement to shoot the remaining portion of the show, Bedi said in a statement, “As the shoot is nearing its end, I am excited and happy to shoot a special sequence for Mumbhai in Dubai. The cast, along with the team of Mumbhai, will be leaving for the city, following all the necessary guidelines and taking all precautions. We need to take care of everything around us in this pandemic.”
Bedi said the producers had ensured the safety of the crew while shooting in Mumbai and the team was set for the Dubai schedule. "We all have learned a different style of working in this new normal, and I’m sure we will all together get through these trying times,” he said.
Though Mumbhai is an underworld tale, it is basically the story of a friendship between a cop, played by Bedi, and a ganglord, played by Sikander Kher. The show also stars Sandeepa Dhar, Sunny Hinduja and Madhurima Roy.
Mumbhai will be streamed on both the Zee5 and ALTBalaji platforms.
