Putham Pudhu Kaalai title song: Builds hopeful, cheery opening for this anthology

The evocative lyrics for the song, composed and sung by GV Prakash, have been written by Kaber Vasuki.

The title track of the upcoming Amazon Prime anthology film Putham Pudhu Kaalai carries a sense of optimism and cheerfulness that feels misplaced in these times of a pandemic and severe lockdowns. The anthology features five different films by Karthik Subbaraj, Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rajiv Menon.

The song, composed and sung by GV Prakash, feels like a breath of fresh air and is definitely catchy. The tempo and the crescendo to which it builds up are quite the introduction to the anthology.

The opening piano keys followed by the violins add to an orchestral background that lifts Prakash's vocals. To add to these are Kaber Vasuki's flourishing lyrics that speak of a new morning that needs to be explored. The lyrics almost feel like a lullaby addressed to a loved one, asking them to, well, carpe diem (seize the day)!

Prakash's vocals are quite suited to the song's structure and add to the experience. The music is followed by a wonderful montage of the stories that will be contained in the anthology. The cast is promising with Jayaram, Oorvasi, MS Baskaran, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Anu Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah and Leela Samson among them.

The anthology, Putham Pudhu Kalai, is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on 16 October.
