Divyenndu Sharma played a wild, trigger-happy gangster in the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s web-series Mirzapur. Going by the trailer for the second season, it seems his character, Munna Tripathi, will be wilder than ever.
The actor has certainly come a long way from portraying comical characters as he did in the Pyaar Ka Punchnama series. He explained how he prepares to play such diverse characters. “I prepare well in advance," Sharma said in a statement. "I take my job so sincerely that sometimes I have to tell myself not to take everything seriously.”
While he prepares well for his roles, the actor also believes in spontaneity. “My understanding of spontaneity is that it’s only when you do your homework and understand the character that you can be spontaneous on the set," he said. "Otherwise, your spontaneity will reflect in you as a person and not in the character. You need to understand the character completely, only then you can be spontaneous in that character.”
Mirzapur (2018) saw Munna hopelessly in love with Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar). But his love turns to anger when Sweety weds Guddu (Ali Fazal), who is also from his father's gang. The season ended with Sweety’s murder by Munna. The second season will sees Guddu and Sweety’s sister Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) up in arms against Munna.
