The award-winning Marathi short film Khisa (Pocket) has been selected for a worldwide online premiere screening at the 9th edition of the Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival. The festival will be held from 9 to 11 October 2020.
The film has also been selected for the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) 2020.
Written by Kailash Waghmare and directed by Raj Pritam More, Khisa stars child artiste Vedant Shirsagar, Kailash Waghmare, Meenakshi Rathod and Shruti Madhudeep.
Khisa is about a young boy who lives in a remote village in Maharashtra. He decides to get a large pocket stitched onto his school shirt, which sets him apart from his peers whose pockets are ordinary in comparison. But little does he know that his pocket will soon become a point of contention among the elders of the village. The film has already won the Best Film and Best Screenplay Awards at the Istanbul Film Festival.
Talking about the film's theme, More said, "The story is a socio-political contemporary on a recent time period. Even today we are more concerned about caste and religion rather than our daily bread. We always love to talk about our history and we have always used our great men for our own selfish needs. This short film throws light on these issues."
Khisa has been produced by Santosh Maithani and Chetna Bhutani.
