Amit Bhandari moves from Sony Marathi to Planet Marathi

Amit Bhandari has come on board Planet Marathi OTT, the first Marathi online platform for content for a global audience which was launched in July.

Bhandari was assistant vice-president at Sony Marathi. At his new job, he will manage the front of Planet Marathi film production as well as the Planet Marathi OTT platform and Planet Marathi Talent.

The company was founded by Akshay Bardapurkar in 2017 and later transitioned into film production.

Speaking about the change in his career, Bhandari said, “Today the audience is sensitive when it comes to the content they consume. Planet Marathi OTT recognizes these nuances and is committed to transforming the way Marathi content gets distributed, broadcast and experienced. ‘M for Manacha... M for Marathi’ is the tagline of Planet Marathi OTT.

“I would love to contribute to Akshay’s vision and give Marathi content the long-overdue recognition it deserves on a global level. My goal is to enable the creation of meaningful content that moves people and promises value in entertainment,” he continued.

He added that he was looking ahead to meeting the expectations of the fast-moving talent-management and film production industries along with Planet Marathi’s team.
