Karsh Kale, Salvage Audio Collective win Asian Film Award for Best Original Music for Gully Boy


The musical, directed by Zoya Akhtar, was also nominated for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design Awards.

Musician and composer Karsh Kale and Salvage Audio Collective won the Best Original Music trophy for Gully Boy (2019) at the 14th Asian Film Awards, which was held in Busan, South Korea, on Wednesday. The film was nominated for three awards.

An elated Kale shared the news on Twitter. “Excited to announce that I won the Asian Film Award for Best Original Music for the film Gully Boy along with my partners (sic),” he tweeted.

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually on the awards’ website and YouTube channel. There were pre-recorded messages from organizers, presenters and winners situated from all over the world.

Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar-winning film Parasite was named Best Film and also took home the awards for Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Production Design. The Hindi film Thappad (2020) and the Malayalam film Jallikkattu (2019) were also nominated.
