After a rap love song with ‘Care Ni Karda’, the second song from the upcoming Chhalaang (2020), directed by Hansal Mehta, moves to the trend of having a Punjabi track as a romantic track. The composition by Vee features singers Guru Randhawa and Payal Dev in a duet.
Like most Punjabi romantic tracks in Hindi films these days, ‘Teri Choriyaan’ is an enjoyable yet predictable number charting the romance of the lead characters played by Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha. The lyrics are by Randhawa and Luv Ranjan, who has also co-written the film's screenplay.
Randhawa and Dev’s vocals complement each other in the romantic duet, which features the lead characters getting to know each other as they spend time working together in a school environment and outside of work as well. While Rajkummar Rao’s character is clearly besotted from the start, it seems Bharucha’s character takes time to warm up to him.
Vee's composition is quite pleasant, with the melody not overpowering the singers' vocals, and highlights Indian instruments like the flute in the background. The lyrics are the usual mash-up of Hindi, Punjabi and the occasional English word.
Chhalaang, also starring Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Saurabh Shukla, Ila Arun and Jatin Sarna, is due to be released on 13 November on Amazon Prime. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
