Doctor Doctor song 'Mazach Pahije': Formulaic party song with unimaginative lyrics

The song, written by Vaibhav Londe and Rahul Suryavanshi and composed by the former. has been sung by Kaustubh Gaikwad and Londe.

After 'Zingat' from Sairat (2016), fast-beat party songs have become a trend in Marathi cinema. In keeping with this trend, the makers of the upcoming Marathi movie Doctor Doctor (2020) have released the first party song from the film.

'Mazach Pahije' is a song with a lot of double entendre. The song has been sung by Kaustubh Gaikwad and Vaibhav Londe, both of whom do a decent job of matching the high energy of the composition.

Londe's composition is fairly simple and formulaic. Though the composition is not bad, there is nothing to rave about it either.

But it is the unimaginative lyrics by Londe and Rahul Suryavanshi that drag the quality of the song even lower. The lyrics are also sometimes not in sync with the tune. The writers need to understand that just because it's a fun song doesn't mean you completely ignore the quality of the words.

The song has been picturized on Prathamesh Parab and Parth Bhalerao who show off their dancing skills in the video. The song is set in a college hostel and the choreography is derivative.

All in all, 'Mazach Pahije' is another unimaginative party song that will soon be lost in the cluster of songs in this genre.

Directed by Pritam SK Patil, Doctor Doctor is scheduled to be premiered on Zee Plex from 30 October on a pay-per-view basis. It will be the first Marathi film to be released in this manner.
