Netflix’s upcoming Diwali release Ludo (2020) marks a return of sorts for filmmaker Anurag Basu. His last film, the passion project Jagga Jasoos (2017) starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, was an ambitious adventure feature that split audiences.

His next film is a multi-starrer featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Rohit Saraf, Pearle Maaney, Pankaj Tripathi, Asha Negi, Shalini Vats and child artiste Inayat Verma. The film, which shows that people don’t enter each other's lives by accident, is a rollercoaster ride that brings together the four divergent journeys of the characters.

Basu reveals that the entire cast and crew was selected with precision to bring to life the vision he had in mind.

“Everyone -- from the cast to the crew -- in Ludo was my first choice,” he shared. “I approached each of these actors and all of them said yes. I feel lucky that there was no adjustment to be made. I saw all of these actors and they fit the roles I wrote for them perfectly, and it all fell into place.”

The Netflix film is due to be released on 12 November.
