Ali Fazal is currently getting rave reviews for his performance as Guddu Bhaiya in the second season of Mirzapur, which released last week. But amid preparing and shooting for the role, the actor also lent his voice to an animated short film Tasveer.

The film is selected to be screened at the Dharamshala International Film Festival, which will be held online from October 29 to November 4.

Directed by animator Ashutosh Pathak, Tasveer is based on the humanitarian crisis that emerged in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An official statement from the makers said the video was thoughtfully crafted and the writing had satirical undertones to it. "It spoke about the importance of being kind, checking one's privilege and the dire need for empathy towards the underprivileged especially in today's times,” read the statement.

झाँकिये अपने अंदर । शायद वहीं कहीं छिपा है आने वाले कल का हल । This is what we have seen and felt . And when i say we, i dont mean the woke 1 percent on social media but we, the people of india, down below down under.. unfortuantely this scream will not reach the villager and the worker but it may ring your ears - you, yes you scrolling about your phone and passing judgements on all the happenings of the century.. and that includes me . Us all. We are not bad people. We’ve just been conditioned to march along narratives and trps. I will let the video do the talking. If you like it , do share it. Its not my voice alone. I speak for a lot of us in this. Thank you @daffymonk for having me onboard . --- CREDITS Written, Animated and Directed by Ashutosh Pathak - @daffymonk Music and Sound Design by Neel Adhikari - @Neeladhikarimusic Mixed by @philtersoup 'March' illustration and sequence by Pradipta Ray - @pradipta_ray73 THANKS Avani Rai - @avani.rai Anubhuti Kashyap - @anubhuti_k Dibya Chatterjee - @Dibya.chatterjee Rajdeep Chowdhury - @rajdeep_chowdhry Chatura Rao - @chatura_rao

Sharing his happiness at being associated with the film, Fazal said, “We are so happy that a small video we made will now be screened at a reputed film festival. Ashutosh's visuals had great power and his lines, even more so. It was hard to not be moved by his writing and the theme. This was the kind of art that asks the right questions and I am glad our cry for kindness was heard, appreciated and has found new takers.”
