Sohum Shah, who plays a pivotal role in Kookie V Gulati’s The Big Bull alongside Abhishek Bachchan, on Thursday experienced nostalgia on the first day of shooting for the project at a set in Bhandup, Mumbai, as this was the same location where his acclaimed horror thriller Tumbbad (2018) was shot.

Shah posted a small video from the sets on Instagram and wrote, “Feels so good to be back on set, and to top it off we’re on the same set in Bhandup where we shot for Tumbbad. Iss set pe humne hastar walle saare scenes shoot kiye the. Itne memories hai iss jaga pe [It was on this set that we shot all scenes featuring Hastar. There are so many memories of this place]. I’m glad I got to come here on my first day back.”

An official statement from Shah's publicist revealed the preparation done by the actor for the project. “[For] slipping into his character for The Big Bull, Shah revealed he did a lot of research and preparation for his role as the film presents him in an avatar he has never attempted before [sic],” the statement read.

The Big Bull is said to be inspired by the life of stockbroker Harshad Mehta, who got involved in quite a few financial scams in the 1990s. Interestingly, SonyLIV's critically acclaimed web-series Scam 1992, which was released on 9 October, covers the same subject.

The film, which also features Ileana D’Cruz, Ram Kapoor, Nikita Dutta, Saurabh Shukla and Supriya Pathak, is to be released on 23 October on Disney+ Hotstar.
