The special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court has extended the judicial custody of actress Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik and other accused arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with its investigation into the alleged drug angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
The NCB arrested Rhea, Showik, Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda and house staffer Dipesh Sawant, all of whom were accused of procuring drugs for the late actor, on September 4. Rhea, who was Rajput's partner, and Sawant were granted bail on 7 October.
Meanwhile, on 5 October, Sawant filed a petition against the NCB in the Bombay high court, alleging illegal detention by the agency and sought Rs10 lakh as compensation.
In his petition, Sawant has accused the NCB of not following the procedure of producing him in front of a magistrate within 24 hours of arrest. The matter was heard on 19 October and the hearing was adjourned to 6 November.
Rajput died, purportedly of suicide, earlier this year on 14 June at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.
