John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar will begin shooting in Lucknow for Milap Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate 2 this week.

Zaveri said only the lead pair would be shooting for the project initially, but subsequently, other actors such as Harsh Chhaya, Gautami Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa, Anup Soni and Sahil Vaid will join in. "We will be shooting across Lucknow, including at heritage structures like palaces and colleges,” said Zaveri.

The director added that the live locations would be sealed off to prevent crowds from gathering, as part of the operating procedures. He said, "Some of the live locations will be completely sealed off, so crowd gazers cannot sneak in. Only our cast and crew will be present on the spot."

While praising Abraham's willingness to shoot in these difficult times, Zaveri insisted that strict adherence to SOPs (standard operating procedures) would result in a safe environment. He said, "It will be scary for the crew at live locations, but it is important to give our audience some entertainment during this pandemic."

The film is the sequel to the Satyameva Jayate (2018) franchise. Incidentally, the film was reportedly based in Mumbai before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. A press note stated that producer Nikkhil Advani and Zaveri have moved the story to Lucknow, as they felt it would have a 'pan-Indian' appeal. However, there will be a final studio shoot in Mumbai.

Satyameva Jayate 2 is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and T-Series, as well as Advani's Emmay Entertainment. The film is expected to be released in theatres by 12 May 2021.
