The makers of Badhaai Do have confirmed that shooting for the project is set to commence from January 2021.
Junglee Pictures had announced in March this year that the second film in the Badhaai Ho series would be called Badhaai Do. Unlike the first film, which starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra, this one will see Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar teaming up.
Pednekar took to Twitter on Sunday and shared a picture of Rao and herself congratulating each other captioned: “Aye Rajkummar Rao, time to say Badhaai Do. See you on set, January 2021. Bring it on [sic].”

As reported by the news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), Rao plays a Delhi cop who is the only male officer in the police station while Pednekar plays a physical training teacher. Interestingly, Rao happens to play a PT teacher in his upcoming film Chhalaang.
Sharing his excitement, Rao told the news agency, “I am happy things are picking up pace and the wheel is moving again. Badhaai Do is a special film for me. I am glad to take up this nuanced character who has layers of conflicts to resolve in and around him. As far as preparations are concerned, I have my own process of preparing a character and also this time it is the setting of this character in Badhaai Do that makes it unique. The audience is in for a surprise, which will unfold with time.”
Rao and Pednekar haven’t acted together before. “Since this is the first time I will be working with Rajkummar, I am super excited as we begin our shoot soon. Badhaai Ho has been one of my favourites and it feels amazing to take this franchise forward,” the actress said.
While Badhaai Ho was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Badhaai Do will be helmed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, who had previously made the adult entertainer Hunterrr (2015). He will be catering to a family audience this time.
“Family comedies are evergreen and the idea was to create wholesome entertainment that can be enjoyed with the entire family. Since the pandemic, we have been able to do some reading sessions, and the chemistry between Raj and Bhumi is so palpable that I am looking forward to capturing it for the big screen,” Kulkarni said.
