Court orders FIR against Kangana Ranaut, sister Rangoli Chandel for 'creating communal tension'

A magistrate's court in Mumbai has ordered police to register a first information report (FIR) against actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly trying to create hatred and communal tension through their tweets.

The order came after a complaint against the sisters was made by casting director and fitness trainer Munnawar Ali Sayyed.

'On prima facie perusal of the complaint and submissions, I found the cognizable offence has been committed by the accused,' metropolitan magistrate Jaydeo Khule wrote in his order.

The complainant urged that Ranaut and Chandel be booked for promoting enmity between communities (section 153A of the Indian Penal Code), deliberate and malicious acts to outrage religious feelings (section 295A) and sedition (section 124) read with section 34, which defines common intention.

Ranaut reacted to the court order with a tweet. "Who all are fasting on Navratris? Pictures clicked from today’s celebrations as I am also fasting. Meanwhile, another FIR filed against me. Pappu Sena in Maharashtra seems to be obsessing over me. Don’t miss me so much, I will be there soon."
