Also starring Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in a pivotal role, the Hansal Mehta-directed film is a mixture of romance and sport.

Director Hansal Mehta and actor Rajkummar Rao have joined hands several times in the past to deliver many acclaimed films. And the trailer for their latest film Chhalaang, which has been released today, promises another winner.
The trailer starts off as an innocent love story. The plot revolves around Montu (Rajkummar Rao), a lazy PT instructor in a small school in a town in North India. His parents worry about his marriage as he keeps rejecting every alliance proposal.
One day, excitement pops up in his life when the beautiful Neelima (Nushrat Bharucha) joins the school as the computer teacher. Montu falls for her instantly. But then enters Singh (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) as Montu’s senior. Montu has to assist him, which he hates. Worse, Singh is also smitted by Neelima. This starts a battle between Montu and Singh.
From the trailer itself it is clear that Chhalaang brings together three different themes. It starts off as a romantic story, then becomes a love triangle and finally ends as a sports drama.
There have been plenty of sports films in India in recent years. But Chhalaang appears to be different from all of them because of the love triangle and the fact that two individuals (Rajkummar Rao and Ayyub) rather than professional sportsmen are competing against each other.
Rajkummar Rao and Ayyub have proved their acting skills numerous times in the past. And going by the trailer, they are unlikely to disappoint viewers here.
Nushrat Bharucha appears a good fit for her character. The film also stars veterans like Satish Kaushik, Saurabh Shukla and Ila Arun. It is also refreshing to see Mehta take up a light-hearted subject for a change.
Chhalaang will be released on 13 November on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
