Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has signed on to his next project, an untitled feature produced by Umesh Shukla and Ashish Wagh and directed by Sejal Shah, a former journalist and documentary filmmaker.
The upcoming project reunites him with writer Bhavesh Mandalia who penned Siddiqui’s recent Netflix release Serious Men (2020). Shah was also a producer on the Sudhir Mishra film.
A new teaser video for the project sees Siddiqui lamenting about the fact that society only notices the bad guys, not the good ones. His character aims to change the conversation and put them in the spotlight.
Shukla, who has directed OMG: Oh My God! (2012) and 102 Not Out (2018), told the Indian Express newspaper's online edition, “Heroes are amongst us, we simply choose not to see. Ordinary people who achieved the extraordinary. And who else but Nawaz to bring a story alive and make us care. This movie is heartfelt, thrilling and most importantly, it will entertain you. Be prepared for a mad ride.”
The actor, coming off critical acclaim for his roles in Serious Men and Raat Akeli Hai, spoke about why the role appealed to him. "I am always searching for roles that are challenging and quirky and stories which are exciting and have something to say. With this interesting group of people coming together you can expect the unexpected from us," he said.
