The makers of Mirzapur have introduced the primary characters of the show's second season in a series of snippet videos.
On the heels of the trailer for the second season, we get more glimpses of Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Munna Bhaiya (Divyendu Sharma), Guddu Bhaiya (Ali Fazal), Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma), Maurya (Amit Sial), Dimpy (Harshita Gaur), Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma) and a surprise character played by Vijay Varma.
In one video Tripathi's announces that he is ready for a new innings in the second season. Going by the trailer of Mirzapur 2, he is hinting at his strongman character's foray into politics. Munna, on the other hand, continues to be boastful and unhinged.
Guddu and Golu are hell-bent on avenging the murders of their respective siblings, Bablu (Vikrant Massey) and Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar), who were done in by the thuggish Munna. It seems the two characters' destinies are intertwined in this season since they appear in the same video.
Maurya, the determined senior cop who made his entry in the middle of the first season, attempting to clean up Mirzapur only to fail in the end, hasn’t given up on his obsession.
Vijay Maurya plays a trigger-happy bloke from Bihar. Nothing else is known about him. The series also sees the entry of Anjum Sharma, who plays the son of the late Rati Shankar Shukla from Jaunpur. He is desperate to kill Guddu for murdering his father.
Dimpy was a bit reserved in the first season. But with the death of her brother Bablu, she has decided to take matters into her own hands. In a recent statement, Gaur had said that her character has more screen time in the second season.
Directed by Gurmeet Singh and Mihir Desai and created by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur 2 will stream on Amazon Prime Video from 23 October.
