Comedy Couple trailer: Comics face their flaws to keep laughter alive

What happens when a comedian couple finds their relationship coming in the way of their craft? That's the question Nachiket Samant's Comedy Couple seeks to answer.

The trailer of the romantic comedy begins with snippets of the titular couple, Zoya (Shweta Basu Prasad) and Deep (Saqib Saleem), performing their stand-up routine on stage. The couple's success stems from the fact that they work as a unit in the Indian comedy circuit, as well as keep their relationship alive through each other's sense of humour. Except, things run aground with Deep's tendency to lie about the smallest things. And with the partners receiving offers to perform individually, the trailer highlights the question that has confronted every dual act in the history of entertainment: To stay together or not?

The trailer depicts the lead couple's easygoing chemistry but lacks conviction. The trailer also lacks punchlines and jokes. For a film about comedy, its focus remains too much on romance, rather than the quirkiness and creativity of the couple. It remains to be seen whether or not this is a reflection of the film. 

The film also features Pooja Bedi and Aadar Malik.

Comedy Couple will stream on the Zee5 OTT platform from 21 October.
