Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh's 1990s romance Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari will be released in theatres on 15 November. The makers of the film have been hoping for a theatrical release, which became a possibility following the reopening of movie houses in Maharashtra last week.

Film analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on social media on Monday.

In a recent interview with Cinestaan.com, director Abhishek Sharma had hinted that the recent spate of films releasing direct on OTT was an exception rather than the norm. Sharma said, "This isn’t a habit, it’s a punishment. People are fed up. In India, cinema is a religion where people go out with their families to see films. Because of these things, I feel people will come in large numbers. This [watching content on OTT] was a temporary phase. It wasn’t a new normal. The new normal will be watching films in theatres while maintaining social distancing."

Dosanjh was thrilled with the news of the theatrical release and shared the news with his fans.

Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is among the rare films that will have a theatrical release this year. Since the lockdown, several productions have sought to re-release old films including Kedarnath (2018), War (2019), and Thappad (2020). The year has already seen the makers of two major blockbusters, 83 and Sooryavanshi, postpone their release to 2021.
